‘The Flash’ Fans Call for Elliot Page to Replace Ezra Miller

DC fans are rallying for Elliot Page to replace the troubled star of The Flash, Ezra Miller. Miller has been embroiled in legal trouble after two parents of an 18-year-old filed a restraining order against the actor, accusing Miller of grooming their child and supplying them with drugs and alcohol while they were underage.

Miller (who uses they/them pronouns and identifies as non-binary) has been at the center of multiple scandals in the last couple of years, beginning with a moment captured on film when they choked a fan at a bar in Iceland in 2020. Rolling Stone recently reported that Miller was housing a 25-year-old and her children at their farm in Vermont, where they had guns and marijuana around the home.

As Miller’s controversies continue to pile up, The Flash fans are calling for DC to pull in Page — Oscar nominee and star of shows like Tales of the City and The Umbrella Academy — to take on Miller’s role as Barry Allen/The Flash.

While Warner Bros. has not publicly commented on Miller’s future as The Flash, that didn’t stop hopeful fans from offering their suggestions. Twitter lit up with praise for Page this week, with his fans calling for the studio to tap the actor as a replacement for Miller.

“Just want to take this moment to say Elliot Page would make a great Barry Allen, in case there’s ever a need to, you know, cast a new Flash, for whatever reason,” one user tweeted.

Another wrote, “I think it would be an incredibly inspiring image for the trans community if Elliot Page got cast as The Flash,” adding, “He’s a great actor, and has a knack for playing quick witted characters. His build doesn’t matter imo. We can have a tiny Flash.”

Miller has already completed The Flash, which wrapped filming in October 2021. While the movie was set to be released in 2022, it has now been pushed to next summer. Deadline reported in June that Warner Bros., the studio behind The Flash, tried to help Miller to no avail, and will likely not keep Miller as The Flash in future films, according to a source.

A separate story published by Variety last week did not include an official statement from Miller addressing the allegations, but did include comment from a source who said the actor “hopes to address the allegations at some point, but they have chosen to privately focus on their health and healing over the coming months.”
